Corporate Legal Counsel

KGH Customs Services (“KGH”) is organised into five business regions (regional operations businesses) and two business areas (“Global Consulting” and “Digital”) and a number of central corporate functions (“Sales and Marketing”, “Finance”, “Human Relations”, “Compliance”). The business regions and business areas are responsible for the operational business result and are managed by individual management teams.

The role of the corporate functions are to secure that we operate in line with common policies and standards in respective area and to support implementation across the whole KGH organisation. Generally, for all corporate functions the working tasks covers a combination of long-term strategic work and daily, hands-on, operational matters.

Historically, KGH has co-operated with several Nordic and international lawyer firms in order to cover various tasks within this area of expertise. Over the past years, we have seen an increase of these errands as the general business activity has increased and KGH are working with more large multinational customers. Based on that we assess that it is time to add the role of a Corporate Legal Counsel to KGH as part of the corporate functions. This will be a truly strategic and important, new function in KGH and you will be given the opportunity to develop this role and function over time.

We foresee that the person we are looking for will operate across a wide range of jurisdictions and legal disciplines in close connection with the corporate functions and the business region and business area management teams. In addition, you will have a key role to play in several of our formal decision bodies.

You will act as the process owner for our commercial customer and supplier agreements and will conduct most of the hands-on work related to this. Obviously, it will be necessary to maintain the relationship to external lawyer firms for specific, detailed legal questions and you will act as the coordinator for these activities.

What you will do?

The role requires experience from international law as you will :

  • Provide general legal counsel, risk and strategic support in all legal topics.
  • Draft and negotiate customer agreements for KGH’s service areas, including operations services, consulting and software and SaaS services
  • Participate in commercial negotiations between KGH and external parties (customers, main suppliers). A sound “balance” between commercial and legal aspects in these dialogues is key.
  • Develop and implement relevant policies, standards and procedures in the field of legal matters
  • Train management and appropriate internal networks in legal, such as the Sales Network
  • Take ownership of our insurance portfolio and liaise with our central insurance broker
  • Take ownership of our “company procedures” (bolagsformalia) where you will work close with Group Finance.

The position is based at the KGH headquarter in Gothenburg, however travel from time to time will be required.

Your background and qualifications?

  • You are a highly skilled professional with a law degree from a university and a minimum of 5 years’ experience working for a law firm and/or in-house in a multinational business.
